Looking for a compact, versatile bag that fits in your purse? Our sturdy totes come with this in mind. They come in ever changing fabrics. With only a few made of each fabric, your bag is almost one-of-a-kind!

So many ways you can use these basic tote bags! Here are a few ideas: reusable bag for grocery shopping and all purpose use... book bags for students, perfect at the beach, craft projects, a fun gym bag for your work out clothes, a quick overnight bag, or even a diaper bag! And don’t forget, they are a wonderful, eco-friendly gift idea for all ages!🎁

This listing is for the tote bag shown in the first few photos. Note: the placement of the design on the fabric will differ between bags where the quantity is more than one.

Features of each bag:

  • all cotton, fully lined, with no exposed seams
  • bag body sits about 14.5 inches tall and the base measures 6 x 10.5 inches
  • sturdy, cotton webbing handles, measuring over 33 inches long; so that the bag will hang about 15 inches down from your shoulder
  • washable, just throw in with your regular laundry 🫧
  • a nice, thick elastic closure to secure the bag when using our ‘tuck, fold ‘n’ roll’ method for storing the bag (see video) TUCK in the handles, FOLD the bag, ROLL up from the bottom, and then secure with the elastic.😊
  • a great compact bag for your purse 👜
  • a practical and eco friendly gift idea, too! 🎁

I keep a stash in our vehicle as reusable shopping bags to take to market to carry all that lovely fresh produce. In our area of Ontario, grocery stores have started to charge a small fee for bags. It is very common to bring our own bags to the store. These will last years with normal use and care.

A great gift for the woman who has everything. 🌞

Features

I always use quality fabrics and thread. In addition, I am conscientious about making sure I use a full seam allowance. I never leave fabrics holding together by a few threads. This ensures a quality, handmade item, that will withstand normal care and use for many years.

The inner batting layer is usually Pellon or Hobbs 80/20. Occasionally I use a bamboo batting.

Binding is always double thickness and attached by machine for added durability, with neat mitered corners.

The nice thing about quilts is that the more you use them the softer and more snuggly they become. Don’t be afraid to use them wherever you want to be. After all, we wear cotton fabrics everyday in our clothes… your quilt won’t fall apart before it gets well loved!

Care

I have often washed my own quilts in with a regular wash load, with no regrets. However, it is still recommended to use a gentle cycle, mild soap and tumble drying on low heat. (** Note: I rarely prewash my fabrics. Expect a small amount of shrinkage on the first laundering.) It is the tumble drying that achieves the soft crinkly look that we associate with handmade quilts. If you prefer a flatter look, lay flat to air dry… do not dry in the dryer.

Remember that sunlight will fade any fabric, and your quilt is no exception.  So; have a care when you leave it outside frequently or in a sunny window.

Packaging & Shipping

I package all my items responsibly, first with a care for your purchase and then with a desire to reuse and recycle any shipping material I have around.
