Style

This plaid christmas stocking is plush, unique & reversible. Hang with toe pointing left or right. It is fully lined with no exposed seams, using all cotton fabrics. The hanging loop it nice and sturdy and sewn into the seam securely. The freemotion (hand guided, not computer) quilting designs add interesting texture. Can be personalized! (option at checkout, info below)

The plaid fabric is a brushed cotton; so it feels extra soft, similar to flannel. The versatile color scheme is suitable for many decor styles...modern, rustic, masculine, country, etc. A great stocking for a special man in your life.

There are two matching stockings available. Listing is for 1 stocking.

Size is about 17 inches (43 cm) tall, width across foot is about 10 inches (25 cm). They can be hung facing either left or right. Washable.

For personalization:

I will use a fusible applique method in which I hand cut white fabric letters and apply them with a hot iron to the red cuff area. They will not be sewn on with thread.

The personalization will only be applied to one side of the stocking. Orientation will be toe pointing to the left (unless you specify otherwise), with the lettering on this side.

There are many ideas for personalization... in addition to names you could use an initial, a symbol or simple object (eg. snowman head, bell, holly or candy cane, etc)

Care:

If you need to launder, machine wash delicate, mild soap. Fabrics are not preshrunk so drying in the machine will cause a bit of shrinkage. This will result in a soft, more puffy stocking... like old fashioned quilts. Option, lay flat to air dry to minimize this effect or use a damp cloth to spot clean.

Features

I always use quality fabrics and thread. In addition, I am conscientious about making sure I use a full seam allowance. I never leave fabrics holding together by a few threads. This ensures a quality, handmade item, that will withstand normal care and use for many years.

The inner batting layer is usually Pellon or Hobbs 80/20. Occasionally I use a bamboo batting.

Binding is always double thickness and attached by machine for added durability, with neat mitered corners.

The nice thing about quilts is that the more you use them the softer and more snuggly they become. Don’t be afraid to use them wherever you want to be. After all, we wear cotton fabrics everyday in our clothes… your quilt won’t fall apart before it gets well loved!

Care

I have often washed my own quilts in with a regular wash load, with no regrets. However, it is still recommended to use a gentle cycle, mild soap and tumble drying on low heat. (** Note: I rarely prewash my fabrics. Expect a small amount of shrinkage on the first laundering.) It is the tumble drying that achieves the soft crinkly look that we associate with handmade quilts. If you prefer a flatter look, lay flat to air dry… do not dry in the dryer.

Remember that sunlight will fade any fabric, and your quilt is no exception.  So; have a care when you leave it outside frequently or in a sunny window.

Packaging & Shipping

I package all my items responsibly, first with a care for your purchase and then with a desire to reuse and recycle any shipping material I have around.
